The First Pressing is an all-vinyl night, built with you. We find the records together, play them live alongside our own collections and set everything up in your home after. The turntable and every record we found together are yours to keep.
Every song
has a sleeve.
Every record in the booth was picked for your night, and every blend happens by hand, read off the room as it moves.
Guests can browse your collection’s sleeves and see each record as it plays. It’s the oldest way to DJ, and this one leaves records on your shelf.
How it works
- The Want List
- We start with a conversation: the album you grew up on, what was playing the year you met, the artist you’ve always meant to get into.
- The Dig
- We go crate-digging together at one of LA’s great record shops. Pull whatever catches your eye.
- Your Crate
- We hunt down the rest. You approve every find, and we clean and test each record before it plays.
- The Night
- Your records and ours, all vinyl, cocktail hour to last dance. Read live, mixed by hand.
- The Housewarming
- Once you’re home and settled, we set up your turntable and play the first record with you.

Three ways
to go vinyl.
All three are played from records, by DJs who learned on them.
- Vinyl Set
- An all-vinyl set from our collections, added to any booking: a cocktail hour, a dinner, a lounge, a brand room or the whole night.
- The First Pressing
- The full collaboration: the night, the collection and the setup at home.
- Collector’s Edition
- Original pressings, a Technics turntable and your toasts cut to a one-of-one record.
What a vinyl night needs
Nothing unusual, but it is not nothing either. Say the venue early and we will work it out with whoever is already holding the room.
- Space for two turntables and a mixer
- A wider booth than a controller asks for.
- A stable surface
- A solid table that stays put when the floor starts jumping. The needle feels every wobble.
- Sound for the room
- A system sized to the space and the headcount, the same as any other booking.
- Cover overhead
- Sun and wind are hard on records. Outdoors, the booth needs shade, and an outdoor ceremony runs on our standard system.
Not a wedding?
A 40th, a 50th, an anniversary, a dinner for the guest of honor. The collection becomes the gift.

Nobody picked this up for the website. Miles, Brandon and Lee all learned on records before anything else, and you can still hear it in how they play.
Miles grew up with a dad who kept crates of records and a house full of music. Trumpet and guitar first, then turntables, then Buffalo’s club scene, then Los Angeles.
Brandon grew up around his father’s record collection. His father, a Bronx native and one of the early disco DJs of 1979, passed down both the skills and the spirit of it.
The three who play it

- Brandon Cruz · DJ FLiPZDJ and MC. Vinyl leads his signature style too: deep house, funk, soul and nu-disco.
- Lee Dyson · Hey Mister DJDJ, MC and host. Nu-disco, soul, house and hip-hop, and the voice of the room when it needs one.
Before you book
Can you really play a whole wedding on vinyl?
Yes, from cocktail hour to last dance. Outdoor ceremonies run on our standard system, because wind and direct sun are hard on records.
What if we ask for a song you don’t have?
If it’s in the crate, it can happen. We build the crate around your want list, so the songs that matter are already there.
What if a record skips?
Every record is play-tested before the night, and your key moments have a digital copy ready on the same turntable.
Do we need to know anything about vinyl?
No. Curiosity is plenty. We’ll show you how to care for it when we set it up.
What if we already own a turntable?
Good. That part of the budget goes into more records or better speakers.
How far ahead should we book?
Six months gives the hunt room to breathe. Three can work.
Is there a set price?
Every First Pressing is quoted to the night: the hours, the size of the collection and the setup. Tell us the date and we’ll send a written proposal.
